Why early childhood education is everyone’s business
The first five years of life are the most critical for building the foundations for life-long learning, well-being, and health, and it is critical we have policy reform and investment in quality early childhood education.
Early childhood education and care has received significant attention during the 2019 election campaign, due mainly to major Australian Labor Party announcements about funded three-year-old preschool for all children and a $4 billion overhaul of the childcare subsidy system.
On the surface, these announcements appear to mainly impact families with young children trying to balance return to work with the costs of childcare. However, policy reform in the early childhood sector and investment in quality early childhood education experiences is everyone’s business.
